Lighthouse Hotel

Enjoy your stay in Utila at one of the newest Hotels. The  Lighthouse Hotel was recently built in 2006. This two storey Hotel with wide balconies stands over the waters of Eastern Harbor at the entrance to the Upper Lagoon. Gently cooled by easterly trade winds and with outstanding panoramic views across the Harbor and the western Caribbean Sea. On a clear day you can see all the way to the mountains and Pico Bonito on the Honduras mainland. This has to be one of the most picturesque settings in Utila.

All our rooms are air-conditioned and have ceiling fans, with private bathroom, hot water shower, kitchenette, cable TV, refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave. Internet wireless hot-spot on premises.

5 of Utila's top scuba dive shops are within 5 minutes walking distance, as is the Bando Beach complex where kayak, snorkeling equipment and sailboats are for hire.

From Utila Municipal Dock, turn right along the main street and walk for approximately 10 minutes down towards The Point. The Lighthouse Hotel is on the water, just before the bridge over the Upper Lagoon.

  The Light House in Utila was the home away from home for me for 2 weeks in early December 2007.

  Besides being one of the cleanest and best lodging in the island, it had daily room cleaning, hot water, air conditioning, cable TV and one of the sweetest owners I have ever come across. Our trip was supposed to be a simple 6 day vacation to go diving, but after an unfortunate accident we had to extend our stay at the island and stayed for a total of 17 days. As you can imagine after a serious injury so far away from home all we wanted to do was get home back to the states.

  Thelma the owner of the Light House took noticed of what had happened and made everything in her power to make us comfortable and provide the best stay possible. After doing so much for us during those 17 days, she refused any compensation for her kindness and hospitality. All she had to say was " I am a mom too and I know how it feels to be away from loved ones at a time of need".

  This place has been renovated within the last year and it is stunning. The sunset views from the deck and the widows walk made all the troubles from the accident fade. The home is right on the water and provides a night guard on site for the extra piece of mind, even though one is not needed. It is located on the main road of the island and a 5 minute walk from a wonderful beach.

  I did my diving at Utila Dive Center (also best one in town) and it was a very short walk back home. (Light House). I highly recommend Thelma and her Light House and will be the place I will always come back to when diving in Utila.
