The Rocks Cay - Private Island - Vacation Rental

The Rocks Cay - Utila
The Rocks Cay
Utila Cays
The Rocks Cay
between Utila’s Upper & Lower Cays

If you want the privacy and seclusion of your own little private Caribbean Island, with the conveniences of nearby Utila Cays restaurants, shops, people, and churches, then take advantage of the best of both worlds and vacation on The Rocks Cay.

Originally built on a rocky coral outcrop, “The Rocks” Cay is a private Cay, or very small island, about a half acre [2,000 sq m] in size, located about 20 feet [6 m] off the foot bridge that connects Utila’s Lower (or Pigeon) and Upper (or Jewel, or Suc Suc) Cays. The Utila Cays are located off the south west end of the Island of Utila, The Bay Islands, Honduras, and are a 5 mile [9 km] boat ride from Utila Town Center.

Utila and the Utila Cays are located on the Mesoamerican barrier reef system, which is the 2nd largest reef in the world after the Australian Great Barrier Reef. From the Rocks Cay you will find the local waters teeming with tropical fish and you can kayak to nearby coral reefs to inspect the wide variety of corals growing in the shallow waters. At The Rocks Cay you are sure to have a unique vacation unlike any previous experience and at an unbelievable price. How about swimming right up to your back gate or off your own private dock? How about lying in a hammock beneath the tropical island pine and almond trees? How about lounging in the shade on your waterfront deck, lazily watching the world go by? How about joining one of the local fisherman in their boat to go off fishing in that ‘secret’ spot.

Be advised - The Rocks Cay and the nearby Utila Cays, are most suited to independent travellers who are looking for a vacation that is different from the usual package and all-inclusive destinations. There are no chain or franchise Hotel, Restaurant, or Fast Food brands here. Utila is mostly known as a scuba-diving destination and for back-packers travelling Central America. The Utila Cays has few tourists and is mostly home to the local fishermen and their families. If you are looking for a taste of authentic Bay Islands life, then this is the place for you.
