Utila Princess

	The Utila Princess is the twice daily passenger ferry service between the Honduras mainland port of La Ceiba and Utila, The Bay Islands. 118 feet in length with a beam of 23 feet and a displacement of 279 tonnes, the Utila Princess was built in Louisiana USA 1986 as an oil field crew boat operating for Tide Water Marine all over the world. The Utila Princess underwent a major re-fit in 2002 at the Sea Craft Shipyards, in Morgan City, Louisiana, USA, re-modeling her into a ferry with a capacity of 260 passengers. The Utila Princess has triple screw propulsion powered by 3 412 Caterpillar diesel engines. Consuming approximately 140 gallons of diesel fuel on the 60 minute trip between La Ceiba and Utila, The Utila Princess provides comfort and style for her passengers with a sun deck for those who want to enjoy the view and the Caribbean sunshine and interior air-conditioned cabin with televisions for those who want to relax and enjoy a movie during the journey. Owned by Dr Bruce Wardlay and operated by Captain Monty Cardenas (ex-Mayor of Utila 1998 - 2002) with his crew of 1st Mate, Engineer and 4 Deck Hands, the Utila Princess lives up to its motto of "¡su transporte marítimo de preferencia!"
Schedule:	Please note recent Schedule change below; (effective from 1st April 2007) Monday - Sunday Depart Utila for La Ceiba: 6:20 am Depart La Ceiba for Utila: 9:30 am Depart Utila for La Ceiba: 2:00 pm Depart La Ceiba for Utila:4:00 pm Reservations are not taken or necessary (unless you have a very large group)
Fares:	Adults : 375.00 Lempira (approx $US 16 one-way) Children (aged 6 - 12 years) : Travel 1/2 price if accompanied by an adult Children (under 6 years old) : Travel free if accompanied by an adult. Note (1): Prices as at 5-Mar-2008, subject to change with increasing fuel prices Note (2): Fare includes transportation of 2 pieces of luggage in the hold, and carry-on cabin luggage. Additional luggage may be subject to cargo charges. Note (3): There is an additional 20.00 Lempiras Tourist Tax for departures from La Ceiba Note (4): There is an additional 5.00 Lempiras Municipal Tax for departures from Utila
Location: in Utila: in La Ceiba:	The ticket and main office is based at the Utila Municipal Dock. The La Ceiba ticket office is based at the "Muelle de Cabotaje", the main cargo port of La Ceiba.
